Ear to the Ground Music Blog reviews Red in Tooth and Claw

We recieved another amazing review from US blog Ear to the Ground.  They said "People have been making pop and rock music for like 65 years now, so it’s rare when we come across something truly unique. Andrew James and The Steady Tiger"

Indie Acoustic Magazine gives RED IN TOOTH AND CLAW 5/5 and features us on their cover

We have been selected as one of 5 featured artists for American magazine Indie Music Reviewer (out of 3200 applicants). They are putting us on the cover and the magazine/blog's editor gave our album 5/5! Serious international recognition. Thanks guys.

“Each song tells a story and provides a musical backdrop with layers to be explored for days. Whether it is the Butler-esque lap steel on songs like “Swansong” and “Don’t Look Down” or the emotionally raw title track, the lyrics are strong and open your eyes.”

East Coast Tour Video

Remember we went on a tour last month up the East Coast? Well I cut a tour video using the hidden track off our album, The Beat of a Drum. All footage was shot on an iPhone 4s. The quality is amazing considering it is a cellphone. A lot of the of the footage is from the Eastern Cape as it was really just the most scenic and beautiful landscape we travelled. Check it out below.

Andrew James & The Steady Tiger announce 2012 East Coast Tour

Andrew James & The Steady Tiger, the word class folk-rock duo from Cape Town will embark on a 2 week tour up the East Coast over the Easter holiday.

I recorded this improvised track last night on my iPhone

This is a sketch. It is am improvised song. In fact it is complete stream of consciousness. I sat down started fiddling with the guitar which was tuned to DADDAD and then I started hearing the vocal melody so I whipped out my iPhone and started recording. This entire performance just came out in one shot, the lyrics everything. What amazes me about this process is what comes out lyrically. It is stuff I could never write If I sat down with a pen and paper. It comes from the realm of 'no mind'.

Debut Album Launch - Red in Tooth and Claw

We have launched our debut Album Red in Tooth and Claw. This album is a collaboration between Andrew James (guitar, vocals & songwriting) and James Van Minnen ”The Steady Tiger” (drums & percussion). It was recorded during 2011 at Peace of Eden Studio's in the Knysna forest and was mixed back in Cape Town by Matt James at Sound and Motion studio's.

We funded the album by successfully running a campaign on Indiegogo.com (A Crowd Funding platform). This enabled us to hire a producer, Aron Turest-Swartz, as well as book plenty of time to mix the album with amazing engineers.
